4.6 Fertility, pregnancy and lactation Pregnancy If pregnancy occurs during treatment with CHCs, further intake should be discontinued. There is no conclusive evidence that the estrogen and progestin contained in the CHC will damage the developing child if conception accidentally occurs during CHC use (see section 4.3). The increased risk of VTE during the postpartum period should be considered when re- starting Minulet (see sections 4.2 and 4.4). Breast-feeding Small amounts of contraceptive steroids and/or metabolites have been identified in the milk of nursing mothers, and a few adverse effects on the child have been reported, including jaundice and breast enlargement. The use of CHCs is generally not recommended until the nursing mother has completely weaned her child.
